Wells Fargo Championship Golf Tips: Brendon De Jonge

Tied second in driving accuracy last week, he has the game for Quail Hollow.

As already discussed at length, driving is crucial at Quail Hollow, something Brendon De Jonge has been quietly excelling at.

Not well known outside of the PGA Tour, this young Zimbabwean is flying high in the States. After thriving on the Nationwide tour he enjoyed a fine 2010 on the main circuit. Over $2million in earnings and a 25th placed finish in the FedEx Cup showed he was no back marker.

Despite not being one of the biggest hitters, De Jonge has a strong all round game. He ranks T38 in the total driving statistics, a measure of all round driving ability, and was T2 last week in New Orleans for driving accuracy. All indications are that off the tee things are working well.

His last three tournaments have been solid if unspectacular, with a finish no worse than T26 suggesting good form. This week he returns to the scene of his biggest payday; where a final round 66 propelled De Jonge to fourth spot at Quail Hollow. More of the same and backers at 66/1 can enjoy a cashing a cheque as well.
