Wells Fargo Championship Golf Tips: Chris Di Marco

Led the field in putts at the Zurich Classic confirming signs of a revival.

It is more of the same this week as we stick with comeback kid Chris DiMarco. After topping the putting stats at Louisiana, confidence is returning to his game, just witness his closing round of 68. A finish of 26th could have been even better if it wasn’t for a sticky conclusion to Saturday where he dropped five shots in three holes.

Despite struggling for distance off the tee, DiMarco is a straight hitter, ranking 27th in driving accuracy. This means he should not be too disadvantaged when up against the bombers.

His course form is also reasonable, if we go back to 2005 he has a fourth place to his name and a T18 in 2003. Recent years have not been kind to him, but that was a period when he was struggling at every golf course.

Despite strong showings in the last fortnight DiMarco is ignored by the bookmakers at 225/1. A price far too big for a man who has broken 70 in five of his last seven rounds.
