Valero Texas Open Tips: Ross Fisher

Played some excellent golf tee to green this year and putter was getting warm towards the end of the Houston Open.

After tasting Ryder Cup success at Celtic Manor in 2010, Ross Fisher lost his way for a couple of seasons. A four-time winner on the European Tour, he took the brave decision to move to the United States and is starting to reap the rewards.

Last week he fired eight birdies on the way to a closing round 68, to finish T31 at the Houston Open and hint at better things to come.

Signs of his game coming together were also evident at the Tavistock Cup; he teamed up with Graeme McDowell to shoot the second lowest better-ball score and followed that up with the joint third-best stroke play score.

From tee to green he’s played some excellent golf this season, he ranks 12th for total driving and 9th for GIRs. One week the putts will drop and he will become a serious threat at the top of the leaderboard.

At 100/1 he looks a strong each-way bet with Stan James going to an extra place and paying ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
