US Masters Tips: Ryan Palmer

Finished no worse than T30 in the four majors last year. Hits the ball a mile and an excellent putter.

My final selection is another golfer who seemed to take to Augusta on his first attempt – Ryan Palmer.

Like Bo Van Pelt, he is a big hitter who can putt. He ranks 8th for driving distance on tour and 4th for strokes gained putting. It is no wonder he finished 10th on his debut at Augusta last year.

Although his recent form isn’t spectacular, he recorded his best finish of the year at Houston last week. He finished T21, slipping back from T6 after a poor final nine holes. Overall it was an encouraging performance. To put it into context he finished on the same score as Lee Westwood who at 20/1 is a fraction of his price.

The other reason for optimism is that Palmer seems to save his best golf for the majors. Last year he finished 10-T21-T30-T19 in the four majors, a remarkable set of results considering he was making his debut in each of them. With more experience he could go even better second time round.

At 200/1 (bodog) he is overpriced considering his game is tailor-made for the course. Back him each way and get ¼ odds for a top six finish with bodog.

US Masters Six Places– bodog
Bodog are paying an extra place, with 1/4 odds for a top six finish at the Masters.
