US Masters Tips: Peter Hanson

One of Europe’s most improved golfers. A big price considering he led the Masters going into the final round last year.

In the last couple of years Peter Hanson has become one of Europe’s finest golfers yet despite leading last year’s Masters after 54-holes he is still written-off by the bookmakers.

In 2012, the Swede enjoyed the best year of his professional career. He was a two-time winner on the European Tour, enjoying two top-10 finishes in majors and was part of the victorious European Ryder Cup team.

In the close season, the 35-year-old decided to relocate to America and play on the PGA Tour. It looks a good decision. The opportunity to play against the best, week in, week out has honed his game.

After a shaky debut when he finished 78th at the Northern Trust Open his results have improved. He finished T13 at the Honda Classic and continued his upwards trend with a T8 at the WGC-Cadillac Championship on his last start.

The experience of leading the Masters should stand him in good stead and don’t forget he still finished T3 last year despite starting Sunday with two bogeys in his first three holes.

At 80/1, he looks a cracking each-way bet with Paddy Power one of the few bookmakers paying ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
