US Masters Profiles: Martin Kaymer

Kaymer: Wants to see a weekend at Augusta

The 2010 US PGA champion has a miserable record down in Georgia.

Age: 27

Best Odds: 75/1 (PaddyPower)

World Ranking: 6

Major Wins: 1

Augusta Record: A disaster. Four missed cuts in four visits. Last year the German arrived as world number one but left with his tail between his legs yet again after a first round 78 led to him missing the weekend by five shots.

Form: Nothing to write home about. Finished 20th in the WGC-Cadillac in March but a second round 64 glossed over another mediocre week. Has so far stuck primarily to the European Tour in 2012 and sits 23rd in the Race to Dubai standings which tells you all you need to know.

Verdict: As a highly ranked player there must always be a chance that it will all come right on the day, but it looks a slim hope. “A few tee shots at Augusta don’t really suit my eye,” he recently told the European Tour website. So many others are on form and love the place that he’s not even that tempting at outsider odds.
