US Masters Profiles: Jason Day
Many think this 24-year-old is Australia's best hope of a first green jacket.
Age: 24
Best Odds: 40/1 (Skybet)
World Ranking: 11
Major Wins: 0
Augusta Record: Last year came close to becoming the first debutant to win the Masters in 32 years. After storming into contention with a 64 in round two, the young Australian found himself sharing the lead several times on the Sunday. Showed bottle by finishing birdie-birdie and with -12 recorded the best ever total by a first time entrant.
Form: Arrives in Georgia carrying an ankle injury that caused him to limp away from the driving range on Tuesday amidst fears he has aggravated the problem. Has made a relatively low key start to 2012 with three top-25s in four starts that never really threatening the big prizes.
Verdict: Respect from the bookies inevitable having finished T2 last year here before following that with a 2nd at the US Open. That said, the price isn’t great for a guy with only one PGA Tour victory to his name, back in 2010. Best avoided with uncertainty over how bad his injury really is.
