US Masters Preview

Woods is under pressure to return to form

The first major of the year has arrived and we look at some of the special bets on offer for the US Masters.

With lots of experts doubting that Tiger Woods will return to winning ways at Augusta, punters may be inclined to bet instead on his downfall. He is 7/2 with bet365 to have five bogeys or more in the first round. The 14-time major winner is 5/1 to plum new depths and actually miss the cut. On the other hand if you think that the American superstars of Woods and Mickelson will dominate the Masters, then you can get 33/1 on them comprising the final pairing on Sunday.

An American winner is seen as much the most likely at 5/6 with Boylesports. Backing any European winner is a 13/8 shot with Bluesquare. Westwood, Donald and Casey are all ranked inside the world’s top six and a specifically English winner is 7/2 with the same firm. If you think Augusta will be submissive this week then odds on the course record of 63 being beaten are 8/1. Hopeless romantics can even back 61-year-old two time Masters champion Tom Watson to lead, or share the lead, after round one at 150/1 with sportingbet.
