It was another day to forget for Rory McIlroy who slumped to a five over par round of 77. The damage was done on the front nine, as the US Open champion went out in 42 shots. Playing partner Sergio Garcia didn’t fare much better and also played his way out of contention.  Lee Westwood wobbled but stayed in touch, his round of level par leaving him five shots behind Hanson.
