Masters Market Movers Day 1

We review the betting market after the opening day at Augusta.

Steamers
Lee Westwood 4/1 (William Hill) from 22/1
Bubba Watson 16/1 (William Hill) from 55/1
Louis Oosthuizen 16/1 (Boylesports) from 90/1
Peter Hanson 30/1 (Sportingbet) from 200/1

Lee Westwood carded his best round at Augusta to lead by one shot on the opening day of the Masters. The world number three created plenty of birdie opportunities with impeccable driving and iron play.

Bubba Watson fans experienced their usual roller-coaster ride as he finished two shots back. Considering he played holes 13 & 15 one-over par, when he would have been expecting two birdies, it was a creditable performance.

Drifters
Phil Mickelson 33/1 (Boylesports) from 12/1
Luke Donald 50/1 (Stan James) from 16/1
Adam Scott 150/1 (Bodog) from 35/1

The radar was on the blink as Phil Mickelson struggled to an opening round of 74. But for two birdies in the last four holes it could have been much worse, having hit 66/1 in-running at one stage. Luke Donald and Adam Scott both had rounds to forget. At three-over-par they have ground to make up on the early leaders.

Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods had solid opening days, lying four and five shots back respectively. They are largely unchanged in the betting.
