100/1 Masters Hotshot

Yang ticks a lot of boxes for a 100/1 shot.

The odds are long, yet this South Korean has won a major, got the better of Tiger Woods and arrives at Augusta on good form. And he even did well last year.

He is in decent form, a former major winner, and he performed well at Augusta last year, yet Y E Yang is a remarkable 100/1 shot with Totesport to win the US Masters. The South Korean may not make the headlines like many of his American and European rivals, and this may largely explain the long odds, but he looks like an excellent each way bet here.

Yang won the 2009 US PGA Championship after proving categorically that he’s a man for the big occasion. Trailing final round playing partner Tiger Woods by two shots at the start of the Sunday, he became the first male Asian born major winner, triumphing in the end by three strokes. It was the first and only time that Woods has failed to win a major having held at least a share of the lead after 54 holes. He followed on from this with a highly credible T8 finish in the 2010 Masters, proving he can handle Augusta.

2011 form is no concern with a recent second place finish at the Honda Classic in Florida. It was nearly even better as Yang battled from five shots back to ultimately lose to winner Sabbatini by only one stroke. At the WGC Match Play he claimed impressive wins over McDowell, Cink and Quiros, yet again proving what a fine competitor he is. At 100/1 Yang provides almost unbeatable value.
