Tournament of Champions Tips: Webb Simpson

Finished T3 on his first visit last year and an excellent distance putter.

Having enjoyed such a rapid ascent in his career, Webb Simpson only featured in the Tournament of Champions for the first time last year, but the Plantation Course at Kapalua clearly suited him. He finished T3, firing four sub-70 rounds in the process.

The 27-year-old from North Carolina might not have enjoyed the most consistent year on tour in 2012, but he won when it counted, bagging the US Open in June. With a major quickly ticked off his checklist, he can enjoy his golf in 2013 relatively stress-free.

One of the best long distance putters on tour, ranked 11th for average distance of putts made, Webb Simpson shouldn’t be fazed by Kapalua’s large greens. Having got his eye in last year, he looks good value at 14/1 (Bet365) with ¼ odds for a top-4 finish.
