Tournament Of Champions Tips: Graham McDowell
Found his game at the end of 2015 and shot a final round 62 at Kapula on his debut at this event in 2011.
The PGA Tour starts 2016 at the idyllic Kapula Resort and although for many this will be a tournament to dust off the cobwebs there are some slithers of value in the market.
Graeme McDowell endured a mostly horrendous 2015, starting the year ranked 15th in the world and sliding all the way down to 82nd at one stage.
The former US Open champions admitted his focus wavered with matters off the field causing a distraction. However the 36-year-old knuckled down towards the end of the year and won the OHL Classic at Mayakoba and backed it up with a third place finish at the RSM Classic.
The Christmas break perhaps came at the wrong time but McDowell has history of starting strongly after the holiday period.
In 2011 he finished third at Kapula, firing a final round 62. It was his first start of the year but was only a month after he won the Chevron World Challenge. His exploits at the end of 2015 won’t be forgotten and in a tournament often won on the greens McDowell is a good each-way bet at 28/1 (Paddy Power).
