Tournament of Champions Tips: Jimmy Walker
Can take great confidence from his maiden tour victory at the Frys.com Open and is the current leader of the FedEx Cup standings.
After a string of near misses, Jimmy Walker finally got over the line at the 188th attempt in the Frys.com Open. It was a tournament Brooks Koepka probably should have won, but the 34-year-old from Oklahoma was long overdue his maiden tour victory.
In the immediate aftermath, Walker spoke of his sense of relief at finally getting that elusive first win; now the pressure is off he could enjoy a prolific 2014.
Ranked 20th for driving distance, 46th for strokes gained putting and 36th for adjusted scoring average, Walker has an excellent all-round game and one that’s improved every year on tour.
Under the tutelage of Butch Harmon there’s probably more to come, which makes Walker an attractive each-way proposition at 33/1 (Betfred) with ¼ odds for a top-4 finish.
