Shriners Hospitals Golf Tips: Hunter Haas

Hunter On The Prowl

Has a good record at the second tier PGA Tour events. A strong putter, he should make plenty of birdies this week.

Having his third crack at the main tour Hunter Haas is finally making good headway with his career. With close to $1million in earnings this season and a 103rd place finish in the FedEx Cup, the 34-year-old has enjoyed a productive year.

His best results have been gained in the less competitive tournaments on the PGA schedule. Finishes of T3 in Puerto Rico, T4 in the Viking Classic and T10 in the Reno-Tahoe Open suggests Haas finds his best form away from the spotlight. With weaker line-ups more common in the Fall series, this is where he can make his mark.

Good with the flat stick, Haas ranks 30th on Tour for strokes gained putting. With TPC Summerlin a facile course, the winner is invariably the player who sinks the most putts.

After Bill Haas last week, his namesake Hunter can keep the good times rolling. At 100/1 (Paddy Power) back him each way with ¼ odds for a top five finish.
