Presidents Cup Tips: YE Yang

Top International: YE Yang

One of the leading International points scorers in 2009. Would have been even more if he hadn’t bumped into an inspired Tiger Woods.

With 2.5 points from five matches, Y.E. Yang was one of the star performers in 2009 for the International team. Buoyed by his PGA Championship victory, he played some excellent golf and teamed up well with Ryo Ishikawa to win two points - a combination Greg Norman is sure to stick with in Melbourne.

Yang would have scored even more points if he hadn’t bumped into a Tiger Woods hell bent on revenge for that PGA defeat. He lost both his matches that involved Woods, a four-ball defeat and a mauling in the singles. With a slightly better draw he could easily have finished with three points or more.

The Korean world number 43 doesn’t have a major victory under his belt this time but his recent form is good. He shot an opening 63 in Singapore last week to prove his game is in good order.

With the International team potentially onto a hiding, 2.5 points could win this market. At 14/1 (Paddy Power) Y.E. Yang is the value bet.
