Humana Challenge Tips: Josh Teater

Improved by over 2.5 shots per round in the second half of 2012 and carried that form into the Sony Open last week.

Josh Teater finished 2012 like a train and he looks like carrying that form into 2013, if his play at the Sony Open is any indication. The 33-year-old rounded off his weekend in Hawaii with a pair of 65s, finishing in a tie for 15th. Including last season, that was his seventh top-25 finish in his last ten PGA Tour starts.

The dramatic change in fortune came around July last year. Before the John Deere Classic, Teater was averaging 71.88 shots per round, earning $12,500 per tournament. However, from the John Deere until the end of the year he averaged 69.15 per round and $76,000 per tournament.

Considering his good form, and a T22 finish at the Humana last year, Josh Teater doesn’t have to find many shot before he is contending at the sharp end again. At 80/1 (Skybet) he looks a good each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
