Humana Challenge Tips: Andrew Putnam

Ranked inside top-10 for both putting and birdie average on the Web.com Tour. Type of player who can demolish an easy course.

My final selection for the Humana Challenge is a left-field pick but he’s a player I’ve earmarked for this tournament since last April.

Andrew Putnam is in his rookie season on the PGA Tour having finished second on the Web.com Tour money list and he’s got the perfect game for the Humana Challenge.

Putnam is simply a birdie-machine. Last season on the Web.com Tour he ranked inside the top-10 for putting and birdie average and he backed this up with some ludicrously low scores.

The 25-year-old won the WNB Golf Classic by seven strokes but would have probably lapped the field if the final round hadn’t been abandoned, he was a staggering 20-under after three rounds.

The three time All-American has started the wraparound season well, making four cuts in six starts and if the putter gets hot, he could go extremely low. He is a lively outsider at 300/1 (Paddy Power) with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
