Get Rich Quick With Brad Fritsch
Finished T9 last year but was second going into the final round. Struggled with back problems since but shaped well at the Humana Challenge last week.
For my final Farmers Insurance Open selection I’m taking a flyer with Brad Fritsch at 400/1.
The big hitting Canadian finished an eye-catching T9 at Torrey Pines last year and it could have been even better, as he was second going into the final round.
Understandably, the pressure of playing alongside Tiger Woods in the final group affected his game but it was still a fine performance, especially for a debutant.
The 36-year-old wasn’t able to build on that result during the rest of the season but he wasn’t helped by a back injury that forced him out of two tournaments.
The Christmas break gave Fritsch time to recuperate and he showed improved form at the Humana Challenge last week hitting 85% of fairways on the way to a T48 finish.
Torrey Pines is a completely different challenge, but you need to drive the ball long and straight and that is one of his strengths.
At 400/1 (Bet365) a top five finish would guarantee a massive return and Fritsch warrants the risk.
