Deutsche Bank Golf Tips: Jason Day

A good T13 in last week’s truncated Barclays and runner up in the tournament last year.

Tipped last week at The Barclays, Jason Day didn’t do a lot wrong eventually finishing T13. At an almost identical price he is worth backing for the Deutsche Bank Championship.

That T13 was the ninth time Day had finished in the top-15 on tour. Having played 18 events, that is a remarkable 50% strike rate. He is competing at the sharp end in half of all the tournaments he plays in, a good stat when he is carrying your money.

TPC Boston is also a course that suits the young Australian’s game. He ranks 16th on tour for driving distance, 11th for scoring average and 8th for his all-around game. He likes making birdies and was runner up last year having led from the first round. A magical final 62 from Charley Hoffman scuppering his chances.

As mentioned last week Jason Day will be desperate to finish the season on a high after near misses in the majors. I expect victory in the Deutsche Bank on the way to securing the Tour Championship. At 22/1 with Coral he is a strong each way bet with ¼ odds for a top five finish.
