Deutsche Bank Golf Tips: Gary Woodland

Woodland Mr. Consistent

Arrives on the back of a T12-T13 in his last two starts. This big hitter should make plenty of birdies.

If it wasn’t for Keegan Bradley, this golfer would be heralded as the rookie of the year. Having finished last season ranked 588th in the world, Gary Woodland is up to number 37 in the rankings, befitting of a great season.

A winner of the Transitions Championship in March he has gone on to finish in the top-25 eleven times, including six top-10s from 21 starts. His form coming into the Deutsche Bank is also excellent. A T12 at the PGA championship meant he finished inside the top-30 in all four majors this year.

Last week at the Barclays he finished a commendable T13. With only two bogeys in the entire tournament. He would have been even higher up if it wasn’t for a cold putter on Thursday.

Ranking 5th for driving distance and 9th for GIRs on tour, Woodland will give himself plenty of chances for birdies at TPC Boston. Ranking 15th on tour for scoring average, he tends to make them.

Although this is his first visit to TPC Boston, it is a relatively straight forward course that a debutant could win on. At 50/1 with Betfred he rates as a great each way bet with ¼ odds for a top five finish.
