BMW Championship Tips: Tiger Woods

Iron play is back to its best, ranked T2 for GIRs last week, and putter is heating up too.

Unbelievably last week’s Deutsche Bank Championship was the first time Tiger Woods shot four consecutive rounds in the 60s since the BMW Championship back in 2009. Granted the course was there for the taking, but he made the most of his opportunities.

The good news for the former world number one is that his iron play is dialled in now; he hit 79.17% of GIRs, equalling his season’s best at the Arnold Palmer. That should stand him in good stead at Crooked Stick with its small than average greens.

Just as encouraging was that Woods found some form with the flat stick. He ranked 11th for strokes gained putting, a massive improvement on the Barclays where he languished in 41st position.

A five-time winner of the tournament, Woods is in great form and should easily adapt to the new challenge presented by Crooked Stick. At 15/2 (Betfred) he rates a solid win only bet.
