BMW Championship Tips: DA Points

Sits 21st in the FedEx Cup, finished T6 at the Barclays two starts back and is a winner on tour this year.

There is very little course form available at Conway Farms but one player who will have plenty of local support is DA Points.

The 36-year-old was born in Illinois, went to the University of Illinois, was three-time Illinois Amateur Champion and finished second in 2008 US Open Qualifying at Conway Farms - so there’s a good chance he knows the course.

A rank outsider for the BMW Championship, DA Points is better than the bookmakers give him credit for. He is currently 21st in the FedEx Cup standings, higher than Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia and Lee Westwood who are all a fraction of his price.

There is also encouragement to be found in his recent form. Points finished T6 at the Barclays two starts back, closing with rounds of 66-67. He is also a winner this year after taking the Shell Houston Open in March.

DA Points can be streaky but he has ability and won’t be overawed having won twice on tour, his other victory coming at Pebble Beach. With no halfway cut he is a lively outsider at 200/1 (Boylesports), back him each-way and get ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.

*Edited at 12.56pm (10/9/2013) to include US Open Qualifying results.
