BMW Championship: Charl Schwartzel

Struggled on the greens last week but still ninth on tour for adjusted scoring average.

The top-70 in the FedEx Cup standings have made it through to the BMW Championship but with little course form to go on, we’ve got to find another angle to profit from.

Charl Schwartzel finished a unremarkable T43 at the Deutsche Bank but having backed him pre-tournament I kept a close eye on him and discovered he played better than his finishing position.

A couple of bad shots resulted in double bogeys and this was compounded by a cold-putter; the South African ranked 59th for strokes gained putting.

It wasn’t all bad news however; there was a 27-hole period on Saturday through Sunday where Schwartzel played in 8-under.

Tee to green there isn’t much wrong with his game and he still ranks 9th on tour for adjusted scoring average.

It has been a while since he won on the PGA Tour but he is better than a 60/1 (Bet365) shot.
