BMW Championship Tips: Steve Stricker

Returned to form in the last month. GIR and putting stats at the Deutsche Bank were amongst his best of the year.

There is very little course form to go on, this being the first time Crooked Stick has featured in the playoffs, but it did host the 2009 US Senior Open, which offers some clues. Tee-to-green specialist Fred Funk won that tournament with a game built around accuracy; Steve Stricker, a similar type of player, could go equally well.

By his own very high standards it’s not been the best of years for the 45-year-old but recent weeks have hinted at a return to form. Since the start of August, Stricker has finished: T2-T7-T54-T13.

Last week at the Deutsche Bank, he ranked 5th for strokes gained putting and 7th for GIRs. These are the foundations to his game and the strongest they have been all year.

At 33/1 (Paddy Power) he is overpriced and good each-way value with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
