BMW Championship Golf Tips: Bo Van Pelt

BMW going for the Van

Finished 7th a fortnight ago and has found a good run of form during the playoffs. T15 at the course two years ago.

One player finding good form during the playoffs is Bo Van Pelt. After a T24 in the truncated Barlcays he finished an excellent seventh at the Deutsche Bank Championship. An opening round 73 put him behind the eight ball, but he finished with rounds of 68-66-66. Only eventual winner Webb Simpson could match that scoring.

There is no reason why the 36 year-old from Oklahoma State can’t continue his good run at Cog Hill. A T54 in 2010 was unspectacular but previous to that he had a T15 finish in 2009 and a T18 in 2007.

With a solid all round game there is nothing to fear at the BMW Championship. He ranks 21st on tour for GIRs and 20th for scoring average. Even more impressively he ranks 9th in the all-around ranking, a measure of a player’s overall game.

He won on tour in 2009 and has been a regular in the top 50 in the world. rankings. At 66/1 he looks overpriced and I recommend backing him each way for ¼ odds for a top five finish.
