Southampton v Reading Tip

It looks like a vital mid-season 6-pointer and these teams only know one way to go about their business.

When Southampton entertain Reading on Saturday we have two of the most entertaining sides in the division going head-to-head. They both see the ball fly into their own net with alarming regularity but they can at least cause problems of their own in the attacking third.

WilliamHill offer leading odds of 2/1 on there being over 3.5 goals in the match and a quick look at the stats shows this is easy value. Southampton fixtures have so far produced an average of 3.53 goals per game. The Royals aren’t far behind with the net found on average 3.29 times per encounter.

The mean between the two is 3.41 goals per game. That would suggest that four goals in an afternoon is almost as likely as three on any given day. That equates to something close to an evens money shot so odds of 2/1 aren’t taking much account of the lively teams we have in action.
