Southampton v Arsenal Tip
Their matches on Saturday produced 16 goals between them. Expect more fireworks on New Year's Day.
Southampton are such a sure-fire guarantee of entertainment that they even managed to share a six-goal thriller with Stoke! That was on Saturday afternoon and a couple of hours later Arsenal really pushed the boat out as they trounced Newcastle 7-3. Is it any wonder that I’m hopeful that there will be over 4.5 goals in this match at best odds of 19/5 (BetVictor)?
The great thing about the managers of both these sides is that they encourage their players to go out and attack as a priority. Nigel Adkins knows he can’t keep the Saints up with draws while Arsene Wenger always gives the impression that he would take 5-4 victories over 1-0 wins.
It was 6-1 to the Gunners in the reverse fixture and you would expect the Londoners to come out on top again against opponents who have conceded 37 goals in 19 PL fixtures. However, the away win is an odds-on prospect and the value lies in the overs goal market.
Southampton lost 5-goal contests to both Manchester clubs earlier in the season and this could be similar. The great thing is though, there are all sorts of strange scorelines that could win us this bet.
