Wenger needs a win

Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal are all short price favourites. Will any of them falter this weekend?

Wigan find themselves at 16/1 to win at Stamford Bridge on Saturday despite taking four points from their last two games. Chelsea (2/9) will still be smarting from their Champions League setback in midweek and will surely have at least one eye on Tuesday’s return fixture at Old Trafford. Maybe Wigan can grab an unlikely draw (11/2) at least. No? Still not convinced?

Well what about Bloomfield Road for an upset on Sunday, when Ian Holloway’s side host off-colour Arsenal? Blackpool can’t buy a win themselves right now but at 17/2 maybe this is their moment. The Gunners are 4/9 and due a win at short odds after failures against Sunderland and Blackburn at the Emirates recently. Not to mention the Carling Cup Final.

Man United are 1/2 to keep winning, this time against Fulham who are ‘only’ 15/2 after their excellent run of form under Mark Hughes. Man City may face the toughest test of the top sides when they head to Liverpool on Monday night. The bookies make the Reds marginal favourites at 13/8 with Mancini’s side at 15/8. Tottenham need to start winning again and are 3/4 to do so against Stoke. The Potters are a tough nut to crack, but more so at home, and that’s why they travel at 9/2.

The biggest game affecting the ‘wrong’ end of the table is Blackburn v Birmingham. The bookies may be thinking that Sam Allardyce is still at the helm at Ewood Park when they make the hosts 11/10 to take the spoils. Rovers’ win record is increasingly unimpressive under Steve Kean and Blues may back themselves at 16/5.

Of the other sides fighting for their lives Wolves are 13/8 to beat Everton at Molineux, West Ham are 13/5 to see of Bolton at the Reebok and Villa host Newcastle as 10/11 favourites.
