Boxing Day Accumulator

The odds are enormous, so we could end up in a winter wonderland; the free bet means it's basically risk-free.

StanJames are inviting us to shoot for the stars by offering a £5 free bet if we place a £5 treble or acca on the ‘match betting and both teams to score’ market. The three matches we’ve targeted have generated massive odds of 161/1 - we have nothing to lose but everything to gain!

We start at White Hart Lane (21/10) where I’m expecting Tottenham to continue the bounce triggered by Tim Sherwood taking over first team duties. The 3-2 victory away to Southampton was enough to earn Sherwood an 18-month contract and revive the hopes of the Spurs faithful.

The main catalyst on the field is Emmanuel Adebayor who is playing like he has a point to prove and that has always been the time he looks most dangerous. The 29-year-old bagged a brace at St Mary’s Stadium to add to his strike against West Ham a few days earlier. WBA are in turmoil, but may grab a consolation goal given that the Londoners have gone seven games without a clean sheet.

Next up we’re predicting both teams to find the net but Cardiff to prevail at home to Southampton (6/1). The odds clearly indicate this is a brave bet, but we can expect a strong response from the hosts to Malky Mackay’s stay of execution. Bluebirds fans are right behind their manager and that could have a galvanising effect on the team here.

The players already demonstrated their commitment to the current regime by fighting gamely once 3-0 down at Liverpool on Saturday. Cardiff won the second half at Anfield and I think that spirit can see them to three points today. Southampton are without a victory in six themselves but have scored in each of the last five which makes this bet look canny.

Finally, we’re backing Fulham to record a first away win under Rene Meulensteen, after conceding, at Carrow Road (13/2). The Cottagers are improved under the new boss but the new man has been unlucky to face Spurs, Everton and Man City in his first four games. He won his other match, against Villa, and this fixture provides a chance for a further three points.

The return of Clint Dempsey and a new role for Alan Curbishley gives the impression that things will soon be moving in a better direction for Fulham. They are unbeaten in their last 12 fixtures with Norwich, who struggle for consistency, and that run could well continue. However, an away win with a clean sheet looks most unlikely with the defence remaining leaky, so that’s why our value looks encouraging.
