Oldham v Everton Tip

Liverpool came a cropper at Boundary Park in the last round and the price on another shock is too big to turn down.

Bet365 are more than convinced that lightning won’t strike on Saturday as they make Oldham massive 10/1 shots to beat Everton in the 5th round of the FA Cup. However, with the likes of WilliamHill sticking at 6/1, I think there’s value to be had in backing another famous upset.

The fact is that league prowess counts for very little in this competition and we only need to look back three weeks for proof of that. Athletic beat Liverpool 3-2 at a windswept Boundary Park and it was fully merited.

Since then, manager Paul Dickov has actually been shown the door due to awful League One form, but caretaker boss Tony Philliskirk may fancy his chances after his first game in charge last Saturday. The Latics produced their best league performance in some time while beating MK Dons by a convincing 3-1 scoreline.

Loanee striker Lee Barnard has come in from Southampton and scored two in two to add potency at the business end of the pitch. If Everton drop their standards, as they have at times in both of their last two outings, a Merseyside double for Oldham isn’t out of the question at double-figure odds.
