Next Manager Betting Recap

O'Neill to Fulham?

With plenty of rumours but no appointments, we recap what has happened in the betting.

The football merry-go-round seems to have come to a juddering halt with Chelsea, Aston Villa and Fulham all looking for a new boss. With Mark Hughes leaving Fulham to join the travelling carnival, the betting is even more confused.

Here is a quick recap of the main moves in the last seven days.

Chelsea

Guus Hiddink 5/6
Mark Hughes 4/1
Harry Redknapp 6/1

Chelsea are set to make a formal approach for Hiddink according to the Guardian. With 12-months left on his contract Turkey aren’t going to let him go cheap; the compensation package could be a stumbling block. Mark Hughes is available and a former Chelsea player but isnt’ perhaps the ‘big name’ Abramovich is after. Redknapp is on the drift having been 3/1 a week ago.

Aston Villa

Carlo Ancelotti 5/2
Steve McClaren 4/1
Mark Hughes 4/1

With an eye on the purse strings, Aston Villa are focusing on out of work managers. Ancelotti is rumoured to be first choice but having led Chelsea to the double a year ago he can still demand a high wage and ambition from a club. The question is whether Randy Learner is prepared to match this. He might still turn to the lower cost alternatives of McClaren or Hughes.

Fulham

Martin Jol 2/1
Martin O’Neill 11/4
Steve McClaren 10/1

Both Jol and O’Neill are keen to get back into the Premier League and Fulham offer the ideal opportunity. It might come down to who Mohamed Fayed likes the most. The Daily Mail is reporting that preliminary talks have already taken place with O’Neill.
