Newcastle v Wolves

Newcastle will feel the pressure to win in front of their own fans.

The bookies are basing prices more on reputation than form in this fixture.

Newcastle are the big team sliding ominously towards a relegation dogfight while Wolves are the plucky, less fashionable team giving themselves every chance of survival against the odds. It will feel like all the pressure is on the home side at St James’ Park on Saturday where the Toon Army haven’t won for three months. It hasn’t been much better away from home for Alan Pardew; his troops were hammered 4-0 at Stoke last time out. In contrast Mick McCarthy’s side have won two and drawn two of their last four.

With all this in mind it’s very hard not to get enticed by the 3/1 available on the away win with most firms. However, Newcastle do still draw a lot of games and the 5/2 on that outcome is also quite appealing. The chances of the Molineux side taking all three points are also compromised, to some extent, by the injury to striker Kevin Doyle. All things considered I think the best bet is the 2/1 available on Wolves in the ‘draw no bet’ market with StanJames. This still gives you pretty decent value on the form side winning, but with the added security of your money back if the sides share the spoils.
