Newcastle Keep Battling
Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle are better at preventing shots whilst still carrying the same attacking threat.
Newcastle United are unbeaten in three league games and have given themselves a chance of survival, thanks in large part to Rafa Benitez.
Since the Spaniard took over Newcastle’s shot differential per game is -2.9 (opposition taking more shots) an improvement on the season average -4.6.
The gain has largely come on the defensive side with Newcastle preventing more shots. Offensively, shot volumes are the same but there has been an improvement in efficiency with 4.4 shots on target per game compared to a season average 3.8.
