Newcastle Must Win
Newcastle have lost nine on the spin away from home but seven have been by the odd goal so aren’t a lost cause – yet.
Apart from the odd Alan Shearer rant there hasn’t been too much doom-mongering at Newcastle. Perhaps people are used to the farce or think they are always going to turn it around – well they need to get their skates on because they are in the mire.
Six points from safety, the game at Southampton falls firmly into the ‘must win category’ and I think they can do it.
For all their ills Newcastle have been competitive in most of their fixtures this season. Yes - they’ve lost nine of their last ten away matches but seven of those were by the odd goal.
There doesn’t need to be a drastic change for results to turn in their favour and Rafa Benitez can make the difference.
As for Southampton, the top-4 is out of reach and is a Europa League campaign (with qualifiers) something they really want? Newcastle are the value at 5/1 (William Hill) in a game they simply have to win.
