A recent hat-trick hero who can exploit the current nervousness in the Magpies' defence.
Newcastle are on the skids after four consecutive league defeats and no wins from seven games in all competitions. With several key names still missing for the hosts, Wigan have individuals who can cause Alan Pardew further pain.
Jordi Gomez is one such candidate and he looks overpriced at 7/2 (Bluesquare) in the anytime goalscorer market. The Barcelona academy recruit fired in a hat-trick a week ago against Reading and he is the sort of player who can go on a little goalscoring run.
The 27-year-old popped up with four goals in five league matches this time last year when Chelsea were among his victims. Now, after claiming the match ball against the Royals he will be champing at the bit again. Against opponents who haven’t kept a clean sheet in the league since 23 September he must rate as value.
