Man City v West Ham TIp

The best home defence in the PL takes on the weakest away attack in the division.

There are some strong trends pointing towards a narrow, low-scoring victory for the outgoing champions here and I’m backing a 1-0 City win at best odds of 17/2 with BetVictor.

Firstly, it’s fairly hard to see West Ham scoring, even on their recent form. The visitors have the worst away goalscoring record in the Premier League having only found the net 10 times in 17 matches. The only surprise is that they have won as many as three games on their travels.

Consider then that Manchester City have conceded the fewest goals at home in the top flight - just 11 all season. That includes six clean sheets in their last seven league appearances at the Etihad.

That’s the bad news for the Hammers but there is still plenty of encouragement. Sam Allardyce’s boys are unbeaten in five (W2 D3) and are all but safe on 42 points in 10th position. Mancini’s mavericks have actually lost three of their last seven and have very little to drive them on at this point.

Regardless of this, the Citizens still have enough quality to get the three points, particularly on their own patch. It probably won’t be convincing and I expect something very similar to the 1-0 victory over Wigan in the last fixture here.
