Man City v Liverpool Tip

With United 10 points clear at kick-off, City simply have to find a way of winning.

The improvement in Liverpool in recent months is there for all to see but they still can’t seem to get the job done against the cream of the crop. It’s an astonishing statistic that by February they still haven’t beaten a side currently occupying a position in the top half of the table.

Of course they had a wonderful opportunity when leading 2-0 at the Emirates on Wednesday night. However, Arsenal fought back well and could have taken the points in the end very easily; the Etihad will be tougher still. Manchester City have lost only two of their past 30 league fixtures and the home record remains ferocious in 2012-13 (W9 D2 L1).

Their success at the moment is very much being built on defensive solidity. Mancini’s boys have kept six clean sheets in a row in all competitions and I’m going to back them to extend that sequence. However, the Reds will be no soft touch and therefore I could see it ending as a tense 1-0 home win at best odds of 10/1 with StanJames.
