Man City v Liverpool Tip

Two games without a win does not constitute a ‘crisis’ and City enjoy a 100% home record in the league.

Man City are going through a sticky run of results, no win in two games and their title challenge has become derailed. That seems the general prognosis amongst pundits and bookmakers. They are wrong. Against Sunderland they dominated the game but found Simon Mignolet inspired in goal. Even when they beat the goalkeeper, the woodwork came to the rescue.

It is worth noting that recent dropped points were away from home; at Eastlands they are a completely different proposition. City have taken maximum points from nine games, scoring 28 and conceding just four.

Opponents Liverpool arrive with a big reputation but problems of their own. A Craig Bellamy inspired home win was their first victory in three, after disappointing draws against Wigan and Blackburn. The team also have to contend with the fallout from the Luis Suarez affair. With the FA releasing a detailed and robust report of their ruling, Liverpool have backed themselves into a corner with their staunch support of the Uruguayan. It will be interesting to see if this has caused any ructions in the squad.

I thought the days of backing City for a home win at close to evens were long gone but odds of 20/21 with Victor Chandler seem very attractive so we will load up with a two-point bet.
