Man City v Leeds Tip

The media frenzy implies that City are about to implode. Instead, I think they will make a statement of intent on Sunday.

The demise of Manchester City has been somewhat overstated considering that the defeat at Southampton last weekend was only their third league loss all season. The record-breaking form of neighbours United has exaggerated the plight of Roberto Mancini’s boys.

In reality, before the trip to the St Mary’s Stadium, the champions were on an eight match unbeaten run (W6 D2) which included a run of six consecutive clean sheets in January. They still rarely trip up at the Etihad especially, and I actually think this fixture has come at the wrong time for Leeds, contrary to the belief of many.

The last time City slipped up at home was against Man United back in early December and the Blues showed their character by bouncing back in style a week later with a 3-1 victory at St James’s Park. I think something similar will happen against Championship opponents . A two-goal win margin for the hosts looks about right at best odds of 10/3 with Bluesquare.

Leeds haven’t won since their fourth round triumph over Spurs and they just aren’t the same force away from Elland Road. Neil Warnock will hope to exploit some nerves in the home dressing room, but I think an angry, determined response is more likely from the superior team.
