Liverpool v Man City Tip

mancini point at least

City arrive at Anfield knowing a point is good enough. Against a makeshift defence they could leave with all three.

Sixth play third tonight at Anfield and if Liverpool are to retain any faint hopes of European football next year they need to beat Manchester City. On the flip side Roberto Mancini knows that a point is good enough to keep Tottenham at arms length in the race for the Champions League. From a betting perspective, this match is a simple conundrum; Liverpool have to win, City must avoid defeat.

On current form Liverpool have more to worry about. Defeat at West Brom showed they are still inconsistent. It was a game the bookmakers expected them to win but setbacks are to be expected when you have new players and a new manager. Compounding their problems are injuries to their full backs Johnson and Kelly, which means they may again line up with four centre backs. The weak link here is Sotirios Kyrgiakos. Against West Brom whenever an attacker ran at him he was all at sea, ending up at fault for two goals. With tricky players like Carlos Tevez and the fit again Adam Johnson he could really be exposed.

City arrive at Liverpool full of confidence after their five goal thrashing of Sunderland and I think they will fancy their chances against a makeshift back four. As already explained I do not think Mancini’s team will be beaten, they actually carry a better chance of victory. With that in mind, back City in the draw no bet market, this gives us our money back if the match ends as a draw.
