Hull v Norwich Tip

The Canaries actually won away to Man City on the final day of 2013-14 and have invested heavily over the summer.

The odds are rather curious for this fixture with newly promoted Hull City pitched as heavy favourites (7/5 WilliamHill) against a Norwich City side beginning it’s third consecutive campaign in the top flight. The best price 12/5 (Coral) on the visitors looks far too generous.

The rationale behind these prices can only be based on home advantage and the fact that the Canaries were pretty ordinary on their travels last campaign.

Chris Hughton’s main problem then was finding regular goalscorers, but the Norfolk club have since gone to great lengths to address that issue. Ricky van Wolfswinkel arrived for £8.5m from Lisbon and scored on his debut against Everton. Gary Hooper signed for £5m from Celtic, although he is currently injured, and Johan Elmander has just jetted in on a season-long loan from Galatasaray. Throw in Luciano Becchio, who signed in January from Leeds, and Norwich have serious attacking options these days.

Hull will almost certainly take time to adapt to life at the higher level and they may discover just how much depth this division has on Saturday.
