Everton v Swansea Tip

Scoring a goal every other game lately but at a pretty long price with one firm anyway.

If always feels so dangerous to bet against Swansea these days, such is this season they are having, but Everton are one team who still have a stranglehold on them. The south Wales club have never beaten the Merseysiders in their history and recent encounters have been a particular struggle.

The Toffees have won all three clashes since Swansea returned to the top flight without even scoring a goal. It was 0-3 at the Liberty Stadium in September when the physically imposing Blues cut off the supply lines to the playmakers on the home side.

However, at best odds of 8/13 (Ladbrokes) it’s hard to get excited about betting on Everton simply to win, even if Swansea may arrive with a League Cup hangover. Instead, I prefer the surprising piece of value offered up by Coral in the anytime goalscorer market.

The firm go somewhat out on a limb by making Steven Pienaar a best price 5/1 to score in the course of 90 minutes; others go as short as 9/4. It’s all the more tempting because the 30-year-old has been on a decent run of net-finding form recently.

The South African struck crucial goals in 2-1 victories over Spurs and West Ham last month before adding another to his December tally in the last home outing against Chelsea. Pienaar is just one of many who will fancy his chances on Saturday but at the best price.
