Greece Euro 2012 Odds

Can lightning strike twice for the unfancied Greeks to win the tournament for a second time?

Greece
FIFA Ranking: 14

Qualifying Campaign: W7 D3 L0
Average points per game: 2.4
Average goals scored: 1.4
Average goals conceded: 0.5

Summary:
Blessed with one of the easier qualifying groups, the 2004 champions nevertheless topped the standings ahead of Croatia, whilst finishing the campaign unbeaten.

Fernando Santos has built from the back, his team conceded just five goals in qualifying. The main problem remains in attack. No player scored more than two goals, with Celtic striker Giorgos Samaras finding the net just once in eight matches.  They will need to rely on their defence and a slice of luck if they are to repeat their 2004 heroics.

Prediction:
Opening the tournament against hosts Poland will be tricky but Greece have only lost once in 18 matches under Fernando Santos.  With the teams in Group A evenly matched, games involving Greece could become stalemates. Three or more 0-0 draws in the group is 18/1 with Paddy Power.
