Cavani Can Cement PSG's Route To Semis

Paris scored 3 without Ibrahimovic or Cavani even getting on the scoresheet in the first leg. The latter can thrive here in the absence of the former.

Chelsea have a mountain to climb on Tuesday night as they attempt to retrieve a 3-1 deficit in the quarter finals of the Champions League. The good news for the hosts is that a 2-0 victory would put them through. However, it’s highly unlikely that they will shut out their prolific counter-attacking visitors.

Paris St Germain have found the net in 17 successive Champions League fixtures, scoring at least twice in 13 of those matches. Laurent Blanc’s men have actually saved several of their best performances for away days in this season’s competition. They beat Olympiakos 1-4, Anderlecht 0-5 and Leverkusen 0-4 in the last round.

With Ibrahimovic out, PSG’s next most dangerous customer is surely Edinson Cavani. French football’s biggest ever signing (a reported £55m) has already fired four goals in seven Champions League outings in 2013-14 and might actually thrive on being the main man on Tuesday night.

With the misfiring Fernando Torres nothing longer than 11/5 (Paddy Power) to score anytime, Cavani looks a much better bet in the same market at best odds of 11/4 with Coral.
