Bruge v Newcastle Tip
The odds don't reflect that the hosts are in crisis. They have lost 5 on the bounce in all competitions.
Newcastle are top of Group D in the Europa League and know that one more victory will guarantee a place in the knockout phases. On Thursday they have a prime opportunity to do just that against a Club Bruges side who have lost five in a row in all competitions. The Toon Army haven’t even conceded a goal in the group stages yet and were comfortable 1-0 winners when they met the Belgians at St James’s Park a fortnight ago. Alan Pardew has rotated his squad to pretty good effect so far and domestic suspensions will mean Cheick Tiote and Fabricio Coloccini are likely starters at the Jan Breydel Stadium. That will only help the cause here.
George Leekens was recently sacked by Bruges after the dismal run of defeats. Caretaker Philippe Clement will have a job on his hands to turn the corner with only two available midfielders at his disposal for his first game in charge.
