Brighton v Newcastle Tip

Poyet: Prospering on the south coast

The Seagulls are soaring again, while Newcastle are having some off days.

We could find ourselves an upset at the Amex Stadium where hosts Brighton and Hove Albion will relish the visit of Newcastle United. At best odds of 3/1 (StanJames) the Seagulls could well get the better of the Magpies.

Newcastle can be excellent, but their vulnerable side has been frequently exposed in the last couple of months. None more so than in conceding five second half goals to Fulham in their most recent match. Alan Pardew has never been able to feel full confidence in his defence since the day Steven Taylor ruptured his achilles tendon in early December. The return of Demba Ba and Demba Cisse from Africa will help up the other end, but not in time for this encounter.

Brighton are dreaming of top flight football again after rediscovering their form in 2012 to sit 10th in the Championship. They are just two points off the play-off spots after three league wins in their last three outings. Unbeaten in all competitions since the turn of the year, Gus Poyet’s boys will be champing at the bit in front of the TV cameras on Saturday night.
