Arsenal v Chelsea Tip

Terry in the headlines again

Comfortably the best 2 defences so far in the Premier League go head-to-head at the Emirates.

Saturday’s big London derby will now have all eyes on John Terry, but we shouldn’t expect him to wilt under the spotlight. Say what you will about the former England captain, but he does tend to thrive on the pitch when the headlines off it are at their worst.

In fact, both defences could have pretty good afternoons with the star strikers of bygone years no longer around to wreak havoc. Drogba destroyed Arsenal on many occasions, while Van Persie scored a memorable hat-trick against the Blues last October at Stamford Bridge.

However, this season both clubs are building success from the back. They lead the league stats with just 2 goals conceded each in 5 top flight outings; Chelsea have had 4 clean sheets to Arsenal’s 3. It was 0-0 in the corresponding fixture last April and perhaps we should expect more of the same.

I’m not going to go all out on a goalless outcome because there is a lot of attacking talent on display. That said, the possibility of there being under 1.5 goals in the match looks pretty high and the best odds of 3/1 (WilliamHill) are therefore tempting.
