Another good day for QPR?

Championship Betting

It's 21/1 on QPR winning with Leeds v Norwich and Ipswich v Hull ending as draws.

With the Premiership having a weekend off and many of the FA Cup matches looking obviously mis-matched this could be a good time to bet on the Championship. It could be a significant day for leaders QPR if they can triumph at bottom club Preston while several of their rivals play each other. If Leeds v Norwich ends as a draw then Neil Warnock could be one very happy man by the end of the day. Ipswich have been revitalised under Paul Jewell but they face a Hull team on a similar upsurge.

Let’s start with the away banker. It’s top against bottom and yet QPR are still backable at 4/5. Preston are yet to win in seven attempts under new boss Phil Brown and the 2-2 draw at Watford last week sounds encouraging until you hear that the visitors blew a 2-0 lead. In contrast, QPR’s march to promotion continues serenely with a five point lead looking more likely to increase than wilt away. It will be a major surprise if the west Londoners don’t claim the spoils at Deepdale.

Top six rivals Leeds and Norwich do battle at Elland Road with both sides looking good for the play-offs but needing to push on if automatic promotion is to be attained. Norwich have an uncanny knack of scoring very late goals with two 94th minute winners in their last two home games. Leeds are unbeaten in five league matches, and in eight at home, so everything points to a stalemate between two evenly matched sides.

Ipswich come home after tearing Doncaster apart 6-0 on their travels in midweek. Jewell has swiftly hauled his new side up to mid-table with four consecutive home wins that will leave them fearing nobody. But equally impressive are Hull City who have gone a remarkable ten games without defeat away from home. Both teams will be desperate to keep their unbeaten runs going and with this state of mind in common a draw always looks likely.

If QPR win and the other two tight matches draw then that’s a 21/1 payday with Victor Chandler.
