Southwell Horse Racing Tips: Lindoro

Hampered on his last run but his bad luck was not publicised. Won at Southwell last year and looks well handicapped.

It is not often the Racing Post’s race reports overlook incidents, overall they are excellent, but I think they missed something with Lindoro when he raced at Wolverhampton on the 21st December 2011.

From a wide draw, he was forced to race at the back of the pack and got outpaced around the bend. On the home straight the horse started to pickup only to have his run badly checked. At the time he was racing upsides Anjomarba (eventual 5th) and with a clear run he would have finished at least two lengths and four places higher up the field. There is no mention of this in the post-race report and therefore it is not factored into today’s price.

Lindoro runs in the 3.55 at Southwell a track where he has finished third and first in his last two visits. The fibresand suits the horse as he tends to get outpaced at sharper tracks, which is why most of his turf form is at seven furlongs.

Kevin Prendergast spent most of last summer running Lindoro in class five handicaps, one of which he won, so a drop to a class six contest is an easier task. At 12/1 (BlueSq) he is overpriced.
